Politeness essential to real estate closings

Politeness is an essential to real estate transactions and closings.  A real estate sale or purchase can be emotional for the buyer or seller.  A full range of emotions comes into the mix – joy, anxiety, frustration, anger, fear, impatience – to name a few.  Lawyers, real estate pros and bankers see transactions everyday.  It is easy to forget that most buyers and sellers go through this process only occasionally. It is my belief that politeness should never be abandoned in the push to get transactions to the finish line – the closing table.  Politeness includes treating each client with calm and patient understanding through the closing process.  It also includes being available to answer questions as needed, when needed.  The lawyer is in the process as an indispensable part of the equation (client+ real estate pro+ banker+ lawyer=closing team), having a skill and knowledge that the other parties may not have.  People come to me for my knowledge and skill, and I appreciate that. I view clients as customers who’s business I am honored to have. At minimum, clients/customers deserve to be treated with politeness, respect and patience.   I am glad to take all the time necessary to answer questions and fill in the blanks to make the closing process as pleasant as possible.
